Shiver Power Dynamics

We believe that every organization has power dynamics. We are committed to being fully transparent about our organization's power dynamics. Below is a description of Blue Shark Friend's power dynamics. You are free to choose to use this. You are free to create your own. But if you choose to adhere to the Shiver Methodology, be fully transparent about your community's power dynamics.

Pirates

We are those who have a legal stake in the community of Blue Shark Friends. All of those who have a legal stake in Blue Shark Friends have equal stakes. You can find our Operating Agreement here.

Deckhands

We are those who have a contractual stake in the community of Blue Shark Friends. Each contractual relationship is unique. We are committed to being transparent (within our community) about our contractual relationships. You can find all of our contractual relationships here.

Crewmates

We are those who have a personal stake in the community of Blue Shark Friends. We are bearing witness to the birth of something we believe in.

Friends

We are those who have a social stake in the community of Blue Shark Friends. We have not yet made the mutual choice to join the Blue Shark Friends community. But we are cheering them on and are more and more excited as we see what they are building.

Our rule regarding power dynamics

Rule 1

No new romantic relationships among Pirates and Deckhands while a contract between parties is in progress.

Rule 2

Do not allow Blue Shark Friends to reinforce existing power dynamics. If someone has discretionary power over another person's housing, employment, healthcare, food, or autonomy, the person in power may not be a Deckhand or a Pirate in the Blue Shark Friends community.

Rule 3

Crewmates must be invited into the community with full consent of all Pirates.

Rule 4

No Fault Divorce. Any pirate may choose to disband the legal entity of Blue Shark Friends without any fault to themselves.

Rule 5

Pirates must live within an hour's drive of Blue Shark Friend's headquarters.

Rule 6

Those associated with the community are always free to leave without consequence to their relationships with others in the community.

Rule 7

Take care of each other.
